The stories by Teddy Roosevelt are good and probably very informative and educational in that era. Charles Rockwell retells stories that his parishoners have told and stating that just because you can't see your ownback does not mean it is not there as a way of making them true. However, we go from that to "Sporting adventures in the Northern Seas", where they are hunting walrus and seals. Another, "Catskill Mountains and the region Around" where Rev. And my favorite,"The Dukes Children", just because they mention a deer and grouse does not make this a hunting story. Maybe this book should have been titled "The Big Book of Hunting Stories" and left some of the non-hunting stories out.
Great collection of stories. This book is a collection of stories printed in many sources. Lots of variety.
This is a truly large volume of really great stories covering quite a few years. Purchase anytime but it will certainly made a cold winter storm much more welcome as you sit inside and travel via the written word. No hesitation in recommending this publication.
I bought the book as a Christmas present to my wife and me. I am about 2/3 of the way through it and am really enjoying it. If you love to hunt and enjoy the outdoors this is a great book.
